What size plate carrier do I need?

It depends on the size of your ballistic plates.

SIZE 1 fits ballistic plates measuring 10” x 12.5” or smaller (Small SAPIs, Medium SAPIs, and 10x12 plates)

SIZE 2 fits ballistic plates measuring 10.25” x 13.25” (Large SAPI plates)

The size of the plate pocket itself is the only thing that changes between sizes, so even if your 7ft tall but your ballistic plates are under the size 1 dimensions, order a size 1.

What's the benefit of top loading plate bags?

Top loading plate bags ensure the ballistic plates can never fall out the bottom of the plate bag like with bottom loading plate bags. If the ballistic plate load form the bottom, that means the velcro closure mechanism is on the bottom. If this velcro closure mechanism fails, there go your expensive ballistic plates. Top loading plate bags eliminate this possibility.

Should I go with a size 2 if I'm a taller person?

The size of the plate pocket itself is the only thing that changes between sizes, so even if your 7ft tall but your ballistic plates are under the size 1 dimensions, order a size 1.

Which size cummerbund should I go with?

A Medium Cummerbund fits 28-34” waists and a Large Cummerbund fits 34"+ waists. However, if you know that you’ll be wearing side plates, or if your radio is worn behind your cummerbund, we recommend going with a size Large cummerbund.

The cummerbunds adjust to various waist sizes by adjusting where the cummerbund connects to the rear plate bag.

What size Alnitak Belt should I go with?

Sizes are based off waist sizes. Measure twice, order once.

SIZE 1 fits 30-34” waists.

SIZE 2 fits 34-38” waists.

Do I need an Inner Belt with my Alnitak Belt?

Yes If you do not already have one. The Alnitak Belt has Hook velcro on the backside which needs to connect to the Loop velcro provided on the inner belt.

Will the 5.56 placard fit 7.62 magazines?

It will not! If you run a 7.62 platform, you may want to consider going with our MOLLE / PALS front flap and attaching your own 7.62 mag pouches to it.

What are the dimensions of the JAC Pack?

It’s approximately 9” wide by 13” Tall by 4” deep.

It will fit the PRC 167 with about zero wiggle room.

What's the difference between an A-JAC and B-JAC?

The A-JAC has a MOLLE compatible front chest portion, a fully MOLLE compatible rear plate bag, a flap to cover and protect the rear attachment portion of the cummerbund, and can be equipped with a drag strap.

How does the rigid cummerbund attach to the Carrier?

The Rigid cummerbund attaches to an adaption piece via 1/8” elastic shock cord. The adaption piece then attaches to the rear plate plan via hook to loop velcro.

Are the cummerbunds side plate compatible?

Both the Elastic Cummerbund and Rigid Cummerbund are, but the Slick Cummerbund is not.

Does the Elastic Cummerbund with with FIRSTSPEAR® TUBES™ Technology come with the male TUBES as well?

No. You will need to purchase the MOLLE / PALS Front Flap with FIRSTSPEAR® TUBES™ Technology or the 5.56 Placard with FIRSTSPEAR® TUBES™ Technology or the FIRSTSPEAR® TUBES™ Adaptors.

Does the 5.56 Placard with FIRSTSPEAR® TUBES™ Technology come with the female TUBES as well?

No. You will need to purchase either the Elastic Cummerbund OPT 1 with FIRSTSPEAR® TUBES™ Technology or the Rigid cummerbund with FIRSTSPEAR® TUBES™ Technology.

Why is the elastic on the MultiCam Elastic Cummerbund OPT 1 cummerbund coyote brown?

The elastic we utilize is a much higher quality than any elastic available in MultiCam print. Particularly the 1” elastic. We optimized for quality.

How does reindexing into elastic pouches compare to others?

Reindexing magazines into elastic pouches may feel more difficult than other materials you may be used to but becomes easy with practice. Keep in mind that in real world scenarios, empty magazines are typically “reindexed” into a dump pouch, not back into the magazine pouch.

Does the JAC Pack or Detachable Grid work with other Carriers?

No. The shoulders straps of the JAC Pack or detachable grid need to line up over the shoulder straps like they do on our A-JAC or B-JAC. If they fall to the inside or outside of the plate carriers shoulder straps instead of laying on top of them, it can be very uncomfortable. Most other plate carriers also lack purpose built shoulder straps that are both load bearing and have attachment points for QASM buckles.

How do I place a bulk order for my unit or department?

Reach out to us at javlinconcepts@gmail.com and we will be in touch within 2 business days.

We do not send out gear for testing.

Our department is ordering new carriers. Can you send us some products for us to test and we can ship them back?

No. We do not send out gear for testing.

I'm new to all of this: make it simple

A bullet proof vest is composed of a bullet proof portion and a vest portion. The bullet proof portion is the ballistic plates and the vest portion is called the plate carrier.

A plate carrier has 3 major components: The plate bags, cummerbund, and placard.

The plate bags are connected via shoulder straps and open up like a pillow case to receive the ballistic plates. There is a front plate bag to cover your chest and a rear plate bag to cover your back.

A cummerbund is needed to wrap around your waist and connect the rear plate bag to the front plate bag. The type of cummerbund you’ll need is entirely based on your preference and mission needs.

The placard attaches to the front plate bag and holds your ammo or other gear. A placard that holds no ammo but has attachment points for attaching gear to is called a front flap.

Typically, the cummerbund attaches to the front plate bag via Velcro, but an alternative to this that you’ll see is hardware called FIRSTSPEAR® TUBES™ Technology. This hardware basically acts as a type of buckle and makes quick doffing (the ability to rapidly remove your plate carrier in the event of an emergency) possible.

Terminology help:

MOLLE:

MOLLE, short for "Modular Lightweight Load-carrying Equipment," is a versatile attachment system commonly used in tactical gear. It allows for the secure attachment of various accessories, pouches, and equipment to backpacks, vests, belts, or other gear items. The system consists of a grid of webbing straps and loops that are sewn onto the gear, though nowadays laser cut slits are more common. These straps and loops are designed to interlock with compatible attachments, providing a reliable and customizable setup.

PALS:

PALS, which stands for "Pouch Attachment Ladder System," is another term often used in conjunction with MOLLE. PALS refers specifically to the webbing grid pattern found on gear and equipment that allows for the attachment of pouches and accessories.

The PALS system consists of horizontal rows of evenly spaced nylon webbing stitched onto gear items. These rows typically have vertical loops or slots, which are the attachment points for various MOLLE-compatible pouches or accessories. The PALS grid allows for secure attachment and easy customization of gear by weaving straps or tabs from pouches through the webbing.

In simpler terms, PALS is the grid-like pattern of straps or loops that you often see on tactical gear. It enables you to attach pouches and other equipment using the MOLLE system, giving you the ability to configure your gear setup according to your preferences and needs. PALS and MOLLE are closely related, as PALS provides the structure and attachment points for MOLLE-compatible accessories.

PLATE BAGS:

The plate bags are the portion of the plate carrier that open up like a pillow case to receive the ballistic plates. There is a front plate bag to cover your chest and a rear plate bag to cover your back. The front and rear plate bag are connected via adjustable shoulder straps.

CUMMERBUND:

The cummerbund is the portion of the plate carrier that wraps around your waist and attaches the rear plate bag to the front plate bag. Without the cummerbund, the plate bags would bounce all over the place and make it impossible to function. The cummerbund also offers space to attach pouches and gear to that the operator will need.

PLACARD / FRONT FLAP

The placard attaches to the front plate bag and holds your ammo or other gear. A placard that holds no ammo but has attachment points for attaching gear to is called a front flap.

TUBES:

Typically, the cummerbund attaches to the front plate bag via Velcro, but an alternative to this that you’ll see is hardware called FIRSTSPEAR® TUBES™ Technology. This hardware basically acts as a type of buckle and makes quick doffing (the ability to rapidly remove your plate carrier in the event of an emergency) possible.

QUICK DOFF:

The ability to rapidly remove your plate carrier in the event of an emergency.

SAPI:

SAPI is an acronym for "Small Arms Protective Insert." It refers to a type of armor plate designed to provide protection against small arms fire and shrapnel. SAPI plates are typically used in conjunction with plate carriers to enhance the wearer's protection.
